with Win2000/NT it is possible to show the actual user and their password.

Password Spy:
 
It’s definitely happened to everybody who has lost their password, witch is now possibly hidden behind this annoying ****** (asterisks). Password Spy is a program that will allow you to "see" the password that is behind "'*****" edit boxes. 
Just load the screen with the password field, then drag the magnifying glass icon from Password-Spy over the the hidden field.
